Amy Michael, WA Women’s Foundation Member Since 2006

Amy knew she wanted to join WA Women’s Foundation as soon as she attended her first event.  “I was hooked from the first WA Women’s event I attended – a room full of smart women excited by learning and passionate about building a stronger community.” At the time, Amy didn’t realize that her membership would lead to a major career change.  “The years since I joined WA Women’s Foundation have been truly transformational, both personally and professionally.  While I was building my career in accounting and finance, I was working on committees at the Foundation and becoming increasingly familiar with and enamored by the amazing work that is done by the nonprofit sector.  When an opportunity arose for me in 2009 to switch sectors and join FareStart as its CFO, I felt that my work with the Foundation has prepared me to take the leap.” Last year, Amy left FareStart to start her own business and notes, “I am more confident because of the hours I spent flexing my leadership muscles on Foundation committees.  Plus, I’m met the most amazing women!”
