How to Conduct Conversations (MEMBERS ONLY)

April 16, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Collective Grants are the cornerstone of Washington Women’s Foundation’s (WaWF) work as a collective giving organization, and a great way to connect with other members and learn about what’s happening in our community. This is the third full committee training for the 2024 Collective Grants Committee. Our focus will be to prepare for the Conversations Phase of the grant process.
Having a conversation with a nonprofit as part of a grant process is an exciting, energizing opportunity to more deeply understand their work. As a grantmaker, how do you ensure that the conversation answers any outstanding questions? What can we as grantmakers do to set the tone of a positive and rewarding experience for everyone? By the end of this session, participants will know basic etiquette and gain tools and strategies to minimize the effect of power dynamics between grantmakers and grant seekers.
