Disability is Diversity (MEMBERS + FRIENDS)
May 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Join the WaWF on Thursday, May 15th, at 12PM for a Disability is Diversity training with the Arc of King County. This training will take place via zoom and is open to both members and friends.
Disability is a form of diversity so often left out of equity and social justice conversations. Join us as we explore how biases impact our words and the way we treat people with disabilities. If you have a disability, or know, love and work with people with disabilities, you don’t want to miss this critical conversation. The training will cover topics like disability rights is civil rights, disability justice, language, different forms of disability and the models of disability.
The Arc of King County promotes and protects the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can live, learn, work and play in the community – improving the quality of life for us all. They envision a world where children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive as equal, valued and active members of the community.
