Beyond the Numbers: Investing in Women, Girls and Gender Equity (OPEN TO ALL)
October 31, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Data from around the world confirms that investing in women and girls is one of the best strategies to accelerate progress on our greatest issues from climate change, to poverty, to access to health and education. Unfortunately, giving trends show that the majority of giving (nearly 90%) continues to go to the top 5% of large nonprofits, and that less than 2% is invested in organizations that specifically focus ion women and girls. But this trend could finally change as trillions are expected to pass into women’s hands over the next decade in what financial analysts are calling, “The Great Wealth Transfer.”
Join us on October 31st at 12:00PM to learn about the landscape for funding women and girls, including the data on giving trends and disparities in funding, and what this means for the issues we care most about. With an emphasis on the WaWF’s 2023 grant priority areas, speakers will talk about what is needed, what is at stake, organizations and collectives working on this nationally and globally, and to share inspiring stories and examples of where donors can give to make the greatest impact.
Speakers:
- Radha Friedman, author of Fundraising Without Burnout: Radically Reimagining Philanthropy to Transform Your Impact (Moderator)
- Rozella Kennedy, Director of Impact and Equity, Camber Collective
- Angelika Arutyunova, Co-Founder of CEECCNA Collaborative Fund
This event will kick-off the work of the 2023 Women & Girls Grant Committee. We hope everyone will join us on December 7th for the PopUp for Women & Girls to put their commitment to funding women & girls into action!
