SUMMARY:Conducting Effective Conversations (MEMBERS ONLY)
DESCRIPTION:The Collective Grants are the cornerstone of Washington Women’s Foundation’s (WaWF) work as a collective giving organization\, and a great way to connect with other members and learn about what’s happening in our community. This is the third full committee training for the 2022 Collective Grants Committee. Our focus will be to prepare for the Conversations Phase of the grant process.  \nHaving a conversation with a nonprofit as part of a grant process is an exciting\, energizing opportunity to more deeply understand their work. As a grantmaker\, how do you ensure that the conversation answers any outstanding questions? What can we as grantmakers do to set the tone of a positive and rewarding experience for everyone? By the end of this session\, participants will know basic etiquette and gain tools and strategies to minimize the effect of power dynamics between grantmakers and grant seekers.  \nAll WA Women’s Foundation members are welcome! Attendance is required for all 2022 Collective Grants Committee Conversation participants. This event and the Collective Grants Committee are only open to WaWF members. This event will be recorded.

DESCRIPTION:The Collective Grants are the cornerstone of Washington Women’s Foundation’s (WaWF) work as a collective giving organization\, and a great way to connect with other members and learn about what’s happening in our community. \nThis is the second full committee training for the 2022 Collective Grants Committee. Our focus will be to prepare for the Research Phase of the grant process. We’ll cover how to find information about nonprofits online\, and how to interpret what you find. This includes practice reviewing financial information by looking at the WaWF’s publicly available financial documents\, including our 990. \nAll WaWF members are invited to join the Collective Grants Committee. If you haven’t yet\, you can still sign up to participate in the Research Phase by emailing Aviva Stampfer\, our Senior Program Grants Manager\, with the work group you would like to join. Click here for the full 2022 Collective Grants Committee calendar. \nAttendance at this training is mandatory for all Collective Grants Committee members who are participating in the Research Phase.
