The Pooled Fund Grant Committee is the cornerstone of the Foundation's work, and a great way to connect with other members and learn about innovative nonprofits. This is the first meeting of the 2018 Pooled Fund Committee, and will cover everything you need to know for the first phase of your work. We'll cover the basics, break into work groups, and enjoy a reception following the meeting from 5 - 6 p.m.
Click here  for the Pooled Fund Grant Committee calendar. Please mark your calendar for all required meetings, and please look at page 2 for Phase 1 (January/early Feb) and Phase 2 (March/early April) Work Group meeting dates.
All WA Women's Foundation members are invited to participate - no experience necessary. Attendance at Grant Committee Kickoff is mandatory for all Grant Committee members.*

How can we make more strategic decisions as philanthropists?  How can we make our philanthropy more inclusive?  One step is to disrupt implicit bias.  To learn how, join us for an interactive workshop presented by Maya Thornell-Sandifor, Learning Strategy Director at Philanthropy Northwest.

Implicit bias is the way our unconscious minds shape our thoughts and actions.  Recognizing our own susceptibility to implicit bias as we make decisions about which organizations and causes to fund will help us achieve our goal of being a more inclusive and equitable Foundation.

In this interactive workshop, we will learn:

  • What implicit bias is and how it impacts the philanthropic decisions we make.
  • Specific strategies and practices for noticing and overcoming bias.

Whether you are serving on this year’s Pooled Fund Grant Committee or just want to make more informed decisions when you receive this year’s ballot, this interactive workshop will give you tools and strategies that you can use right away in making decisions about your giving.

Workshop and luncheon generously sponsored by The Lewis Greenwood Foundation.
